Tropical Green Smoothie

Whenever I'm not in the mood to eat a full breakfast or I'm pressed for time or not feeling very hungry, I'll replace a meal with a green smoothie.

Lately, all I've been wanting is to sit on a beach in the tropics with my toes in the sand, but sadly that's not going to happen anytime soon. Instead, I'll just have to settle for this delicious green smoothie.

The ingredients are pretty simple and so is whipping one up. All you'll need is a blender, I used this one by Ninja, and the following ingredients...

For one extra large smoothie or two smaller ones, you'll need:
  • 1/2 cup of frozen mangos, cut into smaller chunks
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapples, cut into smaller chunks
  • 3 large spoons of greek yogurt
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup orange juice

I like using frozen fruit instead of ice in my smoothies, that way you avoid a watery mess when everything melts and the flavors aren't diluted either.

Lemon juice is full of antioxidants and vitamin C. It's also great for maintaining the pH Alkaline state for your stomach, purifies blood, helps with detox, and great for balancing blood sugar levels.

Popeye loved spinach cause he knew it was great for him. I love adding spinach to my smoothies since it's full of vitamins A, K, D, and E, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, and anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory antioxidants. What more can a girl ask for from a leafy green?

After gathering all your ingredients, place everything into a blender, blend until smooth, and pour into a jar. If it's too thick, just add a little more orange juice or even some coconut water to thin it out. It's that simple and perfect for when you're in a rush in the morning.

While I might not be able to enjoy this on a beach in Thailand, I'll just have to settle for drinking it while doing some work on my balcony.

The view's not half that bad though ;)
